The study was designed to examine Staff motivation as a tool for effective administration of Secondary Schools in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) F.C.T, Abuja. Descriptive survey design was used for the study. The main instrument used for data collection was questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency counts and simple percentage. Findings of the study revealed that strategies that could enhance motivation of teachers included payment of salaries as at when du, opportunities for advancement and provision of modern instructional materials; methods adopted for motivation of teachers were that teachers should be recognized for the work they do and that there should be constant communication flow between teachers and school administration. The study therefore recommended among the others that government should pay teacher’s salaries promptly: and workshops and seminars should be organized for teachers in different subject areas during the long holidays.
